Synopsis
China and Sex is made by Joe D’Amato when he was transitioning from Grindhouse films, through softcore erotica, to hardcore pornography. It bears the same kind of atmosphere and approach as the 11 Days, 11 Nights series, which is typical for D’Amato’s filmmaking in the early/mid 90:s. I suppose this is only interesting for completionists like myself and bears little value to anyone just wanting to watch a film. There are far better erotic films and far more satisfying ones if you’re out for the explicit stuff. This goes right in the middle and benefits from neither.
With that being said the grade might seem a little bit strange. However, the grade is set strictly based on my own preference. Having a strong fascination for sleaze in general and D’Amato in particular the structure of China and Sex is highly appealing, and D’Amato have found an unearthly beauty to fill the leading role.
