Synopsis (Google Translate)
Two high school girls discover the pleasure of sex with each other until one of them chooses to be with a boy.
Lily Lovers is such a wild erotica with compelling narrative and immaculate 80s summer vibe. This could be a simple love triangle stories where youth are confused about their lust and sexuality but the thing about Lily Lovers is it’s the world of heterosexual and gay collided in the most flabbergasting way.
There’s a great artistic vision behind this that it made such a normal scene so engaging to watch, Hiroyuki Nasu certainly knows how to direct an audience by throwing a lot of curveballs. With a breathtaking cinematography, Hiroyuki got this aesthetic of a youthful carelessness about sex yet so much delicate way of how to direct the actors with almost nonchalant way of dealing with their life and it certainly get really dark but never overbearing, it’s that lulling almost to the point of someone like Yorgos Lanthimos. Certainly, a rare gem to the genre.
